To help avoid resentments and disappointment, have realistic expectations of an addict’s reactions or progress.
There are a lot of programs that you should research. Whether or not the addict is responsive or accepting, look into these programs. Detox is the first place to start. After detox, inpatient or residential programs are highly recommended. It is very difficult for an addict to jump right back into life. These programs can help the addict adjust to life and reality.
